In general xylitol can replace sugar in a one to one ratio. In baked goods xylitol is an excellent replacement for sugar but consume in moderation. Excessive xylitol consumption can cause a laxative effect. If there is a hidden scientist in you, then experiment using xylitol in sauces and recipes that call for sugar.
